GENERAL SANTOS CITY – Over 300 Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) who are detained at the General Santos City Reformatory Center received Christmas gifts from Golden State College Inc. led by its Vice President for Finance Dr. Sara Jane Manilay, on December 23, 2023.

Manilay shared that the act of distributing Christmas gifts to the PDLs and other underprivileged residents of the city has become a cherished tradition for her family and the entire Golden State College community.

She emphasized that this practice is their way of sharing the blessings they have received from the Almighty God, especially to those who cannot celebrate christmas in a simple but decent manner because of poverty.

Furthermore, the owner of Golden State College encouraged the inmates to maintain a positive outlook and to always hold onto prayer, expressing the belief that this is fundamental to their ongoing transformation.

Manilay affirmed the college’s commitment to providing ongoing support, particularly addressing the needs of PDLs and extending assistance in educational matters.

The inmates were grateful for the gifts and expressed their determination to continue making positive changes during their time in prison.

J/Supt Brian Sison, the Jail Warden, also extended his heartfelt thanks to Manilay for her support, emphasizing her dedication to prioritizing the welfare of every prisoner under his jurisdiction.

Additionally, it was noted that apart from the PDLs, the personnel of the General Santos City Police Office were also recipients of Christmas gifts from the Manilay family.

This gesture was intended as a token of gratitude for their unwavering vigilance and efforts in upholding order and peace within the city. (JAZZTEIN B. JUBELAG)
